What amuses me so much about the surge in Darkiplier stuff is how stupid Mark originally found the concept. Mark actually DOING things with Dark basically started as a response to Jack’s anti shenanigans so a part of me likes to believe it started out as a one time thing or just to mess with Jack but then Mark was like “ah crap this is actually fun”

meanwhile Jack’s trying to fiddle fake gages into his ear “ I fuckin told you man, this shit is addictive”

The whole story – A theory

Alright, everyone. Here’s my take on what I think happened, chronologically…

Backstory

Mark and Selene fall in love and are married. Colonel and Selene have an affair, and Mark gets suspicious and hires Detective, who finds out what’s going on. Selene eventually leaves Mark for Colonel, but Mark wants to “remain friends” in order to exact revenge. Mark becomes a celebrity.

Proof of affair (it’s not much, but I feel it adds to the story):

image

Mark begins to dabble in the occult as part of his revenge plan. He buys this new mansion. By this time, he is deep into some dark shit, which is why Selene has always had a bad feeling about the house. Darkiplier is forming.

The Party

Mark’s plan for revenge is complete. He invites everyone to the party. He invites the Colonel because, revenge. He invites Damien because they’re close friends and he’d be easier to possess, he invites the Detective so that the Colonel will be blamed for the murder, and he invites us because we are spiritually attuned. (Not super confident on the “us” reason.)

So, everyone arrives and is partying it up. However, the butler is serving spiked drinks, either at Mark’s command or, more likely, without knowing they’ve been spiked.. I mean, we take one sip, trip BALLS, forget 99% of the night, and pass out. Seemingly so does everyone else. Additionally, whatever is in these drinks causes violent tendencies and anger – we flip people off, Colonel brings out his gun, the Detective straight-up punches us. I’m guessing some of the drinks have Ketamine, PCP, or something similar. During this time where everyone is out of it, Mark lures the Colonel elsewhere, and uses the drug’s effects to provoke the Colonel into killing him. The Colonel remembers nothing, or hopes it was all a bad dream. Mark possesses Damien.

Violence/anger collage:

Note: it is possible that Mark simply killed himself in a sacrifice, but that’s less fun.

The Day After

We find Mark’s body (it falling was either Mark fucking with us, or just a cool video choice), and Damien(Mark) sees that Colonel isn’t around. He goes to see if Colonel is upset, and finds that the Colonel doesn’t even care that Mark is dead. This gravely upsets Damien(Mark), but he plays it cool and plays his character well. He allows everyone to shift blame around, all the while knowing that the Detective will finger the Colonel as the murderer.

However, Mark knows that getting revenge on only one half of the cheating duo isn’t enough. He needs full revenge. He knows that the Colonel would tell Selene where he was that night, and that she’d show up eventually when he didn’t return home. However, Mark was not expecting Selene to be in-tune with the occult, thus Damien(Mark)’s exclamation, “I just didn’t think that you were the type to become mixed up in all this.” Fortunately for Mark, her powers aren’t too powerful. Mark is able to manipulate the seance in order to get everyone outside and away from Selene. Although Selene isn’t fond of Damien (“I don’t need help, especially from you,” presumably because he took Mark’s side during the affair), Damien(Mark) stays behind, preparing revenge.

Damien(Mark) attempts to kill/possess Selene, but her practice with the occult causes things to go awry. Instead of things being easy, like Damien, Selene fights back, and we see the flashes of lights and Selene’s torn apparition. George closes the door, but Selene is killed and her body is destroyed in Mark’s attempt, as is Damien’s.

Sensing his plan is going awry, Mark then attempts to possess you. He is mildly successful but is unable to complete a full possession. Mark, not fully grasping us, leads us to the room that points to the Colonel being guilty, allowing the Colonel to find us there. This results in a scuffle that Mark hopes results in our death, and it does. As we die, we hear a deep voice say “It’s me.”

At this point, Selene and Damien are no more. Darkiplier is using visions of people we trusted in order to manipulate us. Selene is red. Damien is blue. But who is in the middle, grey? Mark’s body. Mark. “Let me in.” “You have a choice here,” but being given no choice. We are being manipulated. This is Darkiplier. Our body is then brought back, driving the Colonel mad, and our mind/soul is left behind.

This is really good, and it makes so much sense.

Interesting! I’d like to clarify though, that the distorted voice we hear when we fall after being shot is (presumably the Colonel) saying “It was an accident, I swear!”

This has many good points in it

YOU GUYS

WE’RE SO STUPID

WE KEEP FORGETTING ABOUT THE BABY CRIB

AT THE END OF THE FINAL CHAPTER, WE DISCOVER THE COLONEL WAS HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH CELINE.

HOW DOES MARK DISCOVER THIS?

CELINE GETS PREGNANT WITH A BABY THAT’S NOT MARK’S

THIS WOULD EXPLAIN ONE OF THE COLONEL’S LINES THAT HAS BEEN BOTHERING ME THIS ENTIRE TIME

WE ALL THOUGHT IT WAS “AH, SUN, COME OUT NOW”

BUT IT WAS ACTUALLY “AH, SON, COME OUT NOW”

WHAT

Maybe that’s what the “hunting trip gone wrong” deal is. The Colonel takes his son out hunting and his son ends up dead somehow.

Probably why Celine wears veils in front of her face as well. To mourn.

It’s obvious that The Colonel is a little crazy when he’s first introduced, and perhaps losing his son on the “Safari Trip Gone Wrong” was when that first bit of madness set in.

Old Times | Who Killed Markiplier

Request: None 🙂

Synopsis: The reader is asked to come after Mark is killed and has an unfortunate run in with someone they once loved.

Warnings: murder (*thunder noise*), blood, mentions of madness, possessiveness, obsession, spoilers for Who Killed Markiplier: The Final Chapter

A/N: Don’t judge me. Who Killed Markiplier fucked me up my dudes. Also this is my first post since remodeling the blog!

You were unable to attend the party that night. Too much work, as usual. But when you received a call the morning after from Benjamin telling you that Mark was dead, you forgot all about work and got there as fast as you could.

It was hard to imagine, really. A dear childhood friend of yours was murdered and nobody knew how or why. You and Mark had been close at one point, not as close as you and Damien nor him and Celine, but close enough. You shared some great memories with him and now he was just…gone. It really makes you think about the fragility of human life, doesn’t it?

And just to make matters worse, you got another call from Benjamin saying that the body was missing, leaving you to wonder how you lose a corpse.

The manor was the same as always when you arrived, but also so…different. It looked the same of course but it also seemed to look darker, it felt darker. Like you were too late.

Too late? Too late for what exactly? It’s not like anything else happened. Benjamin would have told you, wouldn’t he? Later you supposed you probably shouldn’t have ignored the feeling that something had gone wrong.

You caught sight of the Colonel wandering outside, laughing to himself.

“Colonel?” You said as you approached him carefully.

He looked up in surprise at the sound of your voice. “Y/N?” He laughed again. “Were you in on this too? Oh, you guys really put some work into this, didn’t you?”

Your eyebrows furrowed. “Work into what? Colonel, you’re not making any sense.”

He continued to laugh. “You and Damien. Always up to something.”

“Damien.” He could help sort things out for you. And maybe but some sense back into the Colonel. “Wait, Colonel, where is Damien?”

He started to stumble away laughing again.

“Colonel?” You tried to catch his attention again. “Colonel!”

He was gone, perhaps too far gone. You invited yourself inside, needing answers and needing them now.

Inside was even worse than the outside. There was a pool of blood in the sitting room and if you looked up, a man-the detective, you noticed-was lying dead on the floor. Benjamin and Chef were nowhere to be found.

There was a broken mirror in the foyer. The cracks stretched outward like a spider’s web. A strange light was emitting from it. You could hear static as you got closer.

You raised your hand to touch it-

“Y/N?”

Your hand dropped. “Damien!”

You spun around to hug him and he tensed at the contact, which was odd for him. He grabbed your shoulders and held you at arms length. You gasped at his appearance. His skin was a pale grey, there were dark bags under his eyes, and his normally well-groomed hair fell forward into his face.

“Y/N, what are you doing here?”

Your ears started ringing.

“Benjamin told me that Mark was dead. He asked me to come…. Damien, what is going on?”

His hands curled into fists beside him as he sighed. He gestured to the small bench behind you. “Sit.”

You did.

“I can’t explain everything-not now-but Mark isn’t dead technically. He’s walking around in my body and-“ He breathed for a moment to contain his anger. “I stole this one. But I swear I will get my body back.” His voice took a darker tone. “And no one is getting in my way this time.”

You groaned. “You’re not making any sense either! First the Colonel and now you!” You stood with a huff. “I want real answers, Damien! Where is Benjamin and Chef and Celine? Who killed the Detective? What the hell is going on with the Colonel? More importantly, what the hell is going on with you?!”

“Y/N, you couldn’t possibly understand!”

This…this was not your Damien. This was not the man you once knew. This was not the same man that you laughed with, cried with, loved with…. He would never treat you like this.

“Damien…Damien, this is madness. I-I can’t. I’m going to take the Colonel to a doctor. I’m going to fix this.”

You turned towards the door. A hand wrapped painfully tight around your bicep.

“No.” Damien said sternly.

“Let me go, Damien.”

“No, you are staying here. With me.”

“Damien, the Colonel is sick. God damn it, you’re sick! You both need help!”

He grabbed your shoulders, shaking you slightly, his eyes manic. “No, Y/N, I’m going to get it back. I’m going to get my body back and we can be together again.” He brushed your hair behind your ear. “It’ll be just like old times.”

“No, Damien, no.” You struggled in his grip. “We can’t have that. Not now. Not like this.”

“I am not letting you get away this time.” He held you against his chest, rocking you back and forth, and burying his face in your hair. “I lost you once. I am not losing you again.”

He tilted his head down, his lips nearly touching your ear. “Darling, we are going to be together…”

“Forever.”

Okay I don’t normally like or read these types of fanfiction, but, in light of WKM with the second pov, this was already fitting, but the way it was written was so well! I loved it!

Do y’all think that Dark can also hear the constant ringing that always follows him? Do y’all think that he’s alway having to fix or resituate his limbs and neck because he’s in a still broken body? Do y’all think that he’s constantly in pain because of his split personalities, because he’s still broken inside and outside? Do y’all think that he always tries to ignore thoughts of what happened but when he remembers he becomes so emotional? Do y’all think he still has nightmares about what happened? Do y’all think he has phantom pains in the place the Colonel shot us? Do y’all think he thinks of nothing except for vengeance, of getting back at Mark? Do y’all think he ever misses how the days were before, wants to return to how he was before? Do y’all think he manipulates because he has to by hates himself for doing it? Do y’all think he ever glances into a mirror and is just so disgusted by what he’s become? Do y’all think that every time he looks at Wilford he’s just reminded of how badly he’d failed a friend?

Because I do

Do y’all also think about Dark bidding his time, trying his best to make a plan for revenge? Do y’all think about Dark pacing across the floor of his room because he can no longer sleep because he’s not a human anymore? Do y’all think that he will sometimes hold his old cane but then throw it across the room because he’s no longer Damien? Do y’all think every time he sees Mark he’s just filled with pain and anger because of what that man did to him? Do y’all think that sometimes he will play the piano in the late hours of the night and the music is so beautifully sad? Do y’all think when he sees us again in ADWM he is truly excited, truly overjoyed to see us again yet also terrified because he hurt us? Do y’all think he just wants to hug Wilford so badly and slap him back in to reality but he knows that that would never work, that it would only make things worse? Do y’all think that every time he hears his voice he flinches because oh god he sounds so terrible, so terrifying?

Because I do
