Xarti stood with their shackled, three-fingered hands behind their back. One of the Shan’Ock invaders had a tentacle on their shoulder. Xarti’s small, shy Human companion Brooke was shackled similarly to them a few feet away while the rest of the crew was lined up on their knees at the front of the dimly lit room.
“Tell us where the Shannon Stone is hidden or they die,” the Shan’Ock Commander growled in Brooke’s face.
“I don’t know where it is, I never went down to the planet,” she said her voice quiet and unsure. It was obvious the Human was scared even with her delicate features showing an impressive ‘poker face.’
The Commander leaned toward Brooke’s face and let out a huff of air, “What about you Xartaroan scum?”
My face was not so impressive, “I-I only cook the food, I d-don’t know any.. thing.”
“I’m sure you don’t…. Kill the crew,” the Shan’Ock Commander ordered.
“NO!”
My voice and Brooke’s rang out as laser shots rang through the air. I was speechless after that and my grey toned skin turned a mixture of dark red and black in mourning and fear. I felt my legs turn to the Human food Jell-O. Out of my side eye I saw Brooke’s calm facade disintegrate as she fell to her fragile Human knees sobbing. She sat there for a few moments as the Commander laughed. Slowly her shoulders stopped shaking and her jaw clenched.
“Have you changed your minds Scum?”
“I don’t know,” I said hopelessly as I realized I was going to die.
“Riiiight-“
Before the Commander could finish his sentence Brook had risen to her feet so fast my Think-Brain couldn’t comprehend what had happened. She produced a blade from behind her back cutting through the cuffs so quickly it took me a few seconds to process where the knife had come from. Before the Commander could react all the other Shan’Ock were dead including both our guards. With the fire burning in her eyes and the black blood soaking into her clothes, Brooke terrified me. The last remaining Shan’Ock invaders stood paralyzed with shock, his fear-scent present and his horns had changed to an alarmed yellow color. Brooke stalked up to him and smashed the hilt of the blade into his wrinkled forehead sending the Commander back a few steps. He regained his mobility and retreated toward the teleportation pad. Brooke hurled the blade before he could press the Beam-Up button, impaling The Shan’Ock in his thick neck. Black, oily blood spewed from the wound spraying Brooke in the face, she just licked her lips and kicked the Commander’s body further into the pad. I watched her change the coordinates to empty space and press Beam-Up as I quivered in fear. How could such an innocent and sweet human ever do something like this? I’d heard that some deranged humans had been led to kill other humans, and some had killed to survive but I’d never heard of a human as calm and collected as Brooke resort to killing. She bowed her head over the blood soaked controls and turned to the corpses of our crew before finally speaking.
“Take us home, please.”
I was too frightened to challenge her.
Later, when I was finally stationed on an outpost with more humans I asked one named Tom about the experience. I told him about Brooke’s out of character response and he asked me about how she’d bonded with the other members of the crew before answering me completely. With a grave face he told me something I’d never forget.
“Any Human can be driven to kill if you push them far enough.”

A meteor can hit a building, which case everyone will run out before the collision. Those who do not exit the building will die. Sims automatically leave if a meteor is approaching, unless it is a school, in which children are not allowed to leave and will always die.

I’ve been telling everyone I know for YEARS not to buy Blue Buffalo.
This is the short story:
A few years ago I took my sick cat, Ankh, to the vet. The vet and vet tech asked what I fed her. I told them Blue Buffalo. They looked like I had just told them I fed her razor blades and cyanide. They diagnosed her with pancreatitis and said that nearly all of the cats they’d been seeing lately with pancreatitis were being fed Blue Buffalo. They gave her medicine and sent her home. Two days later she had a seizure and died right in my arms.
The day after she died Hannibal started displaying the same symptoms she had so I panicked hard and took him to the vet. Got the same meds and the same diagnosis. Luckily Hannibal survived.
I wish Ankh had survived. She was only ten and the best cat I’ve ever had. Literally the best and five years later I still cry when I think about her.
FUCK BLUE BUFFALO.
I don’t know the full story behind the tweets above, but a Google search shows there HAVE been several recalls regarding this brand, especially in 2016. I would absolutely avoid as it is not worth the risk.
Good god thank you so much for sharing this because I’ve lately been considering switching to this brand cus it’s supposed to be so much better than all the others but good god what the hell.
I worked in a vet for a little while and I shit you not, when a dog came in with constant diarrhea they were always eating Blue Buffalo. We changed the food and the dog got better every time. Blue Buffalo is garbage food and never feed it to your pets.
I’ve never heard of this brand but I love my dog with all of my heart and I’d be broken if I ever accidently fed her this and got her sick (people give me different dog food to try all the time). I’d hate for anyone else to lose their pet also.

Taste of the Wild used to be our go to but it has been bought by Diamond Pet food company and they’ve been changing things without telling the greater public. If you go to taste of the wild’s website you won’t find mention of this parent company till you search: taste of the wild recalls. Which have happened but not as recent as Blue Buffalos recalls. Because of this (and our dog having cancer and needing better food) we go with Legacy dog food which is made in Canada and right off the bat has no GMOs and it’s first ingredient (for the type we get) is salmon, then salmon meal, then peas, etc.
Please do no just buy a dog or any animal’s food without checking it out first! ALWAYS LOOK AT THE NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION, if the first ingredients aren’t food you’d eat, don’t feed it to your animals!
What our animals get:
Legacy with Salmon, for the dog, plus all her suppliments.
Earthborn wet and dry, for the cat. Earthborn is made in facilities that can human food and is up to human consumption standards.
Neither of the^^ above dog and cat food brands have EVER had recalls.
Brands to avoid to save your pets life and health:
PURINA! Any and all type, causes renal and kidney failure among other horrible things leading to death.
BLUE BUFFALO, mold in bags and has caused animal deaths.
Taste of the Wild, recalls for salmonella in the past, no recent ones but quality has been only declining in past years since being bought out.
Equality Golbat: “When you donate hair to Locks of Love, there is an 80% chance it will wind up in the garbage.”
I can get similar odds by literally throwing my hair at a garbage can.
Statistically, a charity that uses less than two thirds of its donation money for its central mission is in the bottom 10% of charities, in terms of efficiency and fiscal responsibility. Locks of Love uses less than one third of the hair they receive. (and I’m pretty sure they aren’t using the hair to buy TV spots.)
I should also mention that they actually don’t give people hair. They sell it. What good is a charity that doesn’t give free things to people in need? That’s not a charity. That’s a for-profit business.
Wigs for kids is also great. When I donated I went through them because they were the only group that would accept donations of just 8” (and hair that was dyed.) Either way, don’t do locks of love.
Spread the word, because people still think Locks of Love is THE hair charity, when in reality, they rather suck.

Thank you people for mentioning Wigs for Kids. Got a foot of hair I’ve been waiting to donate since I found out about LoL, and been trying to find a new charity to donate it to. Now I have one.
I’ve heard this before, so I gave mine to a charity done by a local hospital in the city just to the south of me that gives 100% free wigs to kids with alopecia who can’t grow hair at all.
Seconding this. Donated 15" to wigs for kids this summer, fuck locks of love.
W4K donates to childhood cancer patients as well as burn victims, kids with alopecia, auto-immune disorders or any other condition that caused them to not have hair.
I last donated a length of hair to Locks of Love because I couldn’t find an alternative at the time and thought a 20% chance of being helpful was better than nothing. It’s good to know there are alternatives now for when I next make a major hair cut:
