i appreciate ur campaign for mrs thompson h*ck
mrs. thompson being with dapper jack (jameson?) for a few years now. the second longest relationship between the egos. the two always talking about their past lives, reminiscing about old time-y drive ins, diner dates, and listening to records from their times on mrs. thompson’s record player.
the two more like teens in love, giggling as they holds hands in public and spend evenings by walking in the park. still going out to more old fashioned dates like picnics in the park or stargazing near the local lake.
jameson always sees the look in her eyes when they walk past the playground, watching the toddlers and kids play on the monkey bars or swing. always sees her shake her head and look down to the ground when those toddlers and kids run up to their mothers to go home. kissing them and giggling as they hold their mom close.
he knows.
he knows her past.
she knows his.
the once promised daughter he was going to have with his last love never came. an accident that couldnt be prevented in his time.
maybe thats what brought them together, their love of family and children. both wanting desperately to have a child of their own. not like another ego like dark and wilford had with yan. not as a caregiver like dr. schneeplestein was with robbie.
an actual child.
so maybe thats what lead jameson to do what he did. smiling as he holds a briefcase, helping mrs. thompson to the park bench. sure, they had the bodies of ethan and jack, but they still ached with aging pain. jameson chuckled as he wondered if wilford and dark has it worse then them.
“what are you up to?” she asks, fixing her sweater, “you’re practically bouncing.”
‘settle down,’ he signs out, ‘it’s a surprise’
“the last time you said that, we got married.” she looks down at the golden ring on her hand, a small green diamond on hers, a small blue diamond on his.
‘that’s because its a great surprise. an amazing surprise.’
now she grows nervous.
settling back as the soft late winter breeze chills them. the few dead leaves blowing away towards the playground where bundled up children play. giggling and shouting of ‘you’re it!!’ ‘am not!!’ ring about
‘they’re adorable, arent they?’ jameson signs out. mrs. thompson nodding as jameson takes her hands. having her turn to face him. those blue eyes of his making her sigh.
‘i know its been years since we would’ve had our own. i think that time has passed now that we’re stuck in these bodies, with our responsibilities. our jobs. hell, even our busy lives.’
mrs. thompson smiles and nods, thoughts of her day to day life dealing with blank and protecting father ethan from pranks, treating challenge when a…well, challenge went wrong.
‘but, times have changed since you and i have been around. times changed and so has society. for the easier and the better.’ he pauses and grabs the briefcase.
‘do you think the spare room upstairs would make a good nursery?’
“…what?”
‘its been months in the making, and i swear this will be the last time i ever go behind your back.’
“j-jameson…what are you talking about?”
he pulls out the paperwork.
adoption papers. the birth mother promising through all the legal documents to happily allow them to adopt her baby once they’re born. other documents showing jameson had paid for all her medical bills, with the help of the septic egos and mad mike.
everything ending with a paper for mrs. thompson to sign off on that she agrees to step in as the adoptive mother.
‘the big day is still far off, another 2 months.’ jameson signs out, sniffling as mrs. thompson smiles through her tears.
“is this real?”
a nod is all it takes for mrs. thompson to hug her husband close, crying harder than shes ever had. moreso when…well, when her past husband didnt come home from the war.
‘it’s a girl.’ jameson signs out. ‘we’re having a daughter.’
“…do you have a name picked out?” she asks, knowing jameson should name the girl, especially after the tragedy years ago.
another long pause as they sit and hold each other.
…its a good day, three months later, when jameson and mrs. thompson arrive back to the same park. sitting down on the same bench.
only this time, they push a stroller.
their daughter lily sleeping soundly.
