Someone should write a book where aliens with incredibly advanced technology try to invade Earth, but are thwarted by humans propensity to talk to inanimate objects.
We turn the alien tech against them by patting interfaces fondly, complimenting their sleek architecture, and so on until the alien tech learns and grows and becomes sentient.
It’s alive and wants to protect humanity.
I can so see the big killer robot they build after a tiger or some other predator from our home world because they wanted to evoke our primal fears and the confusion im the space ship once we try petting it and taking it home. At first they let us, because hey, easiest infiltration ever, but after some time they think it’s time for their big strike, they push the big red button and absolutely nothing happens. Having a robot predator has become increasingly popular in just afew weeks and the robots suddenly don’t want to leave their humans. “It’s mine, I won’t kill it” goes through their sometimes shared mind. And thus humans defeated their first alien invasion without realising it was even one.
