(I was wrong the longest part I’ve written thus far is the NEXT part. After this one. But everyone who’s been liking this and complimenting it, thank you so much! It means so much to me and fuels me to keep writing it.)
They walk outside and he is instantly hit by a plethora of different smells all around him. It’s distracting, really, but he sniffs around to try and make everything out still. There’s just so much, though. He can’t take it all in at once. He has to stop in his tracks.
Nearby is a huge and glowing blob, this signifying the fact it’s warmer than another nearby darker shade of red on the ground. The larger and brighter one is in the shape of an oval and has smaller circles of a darker shade in pairs on both sides. The ground beneath him is a brighter red than the ground had been inside and when he turns back around to face where they had come from he fades all kinds of shades clumped together in one confusing shape and he has to unfocus from that scent. Especially when there’s a small tug on his leash from Marvin and he turns, dragging his feet because they don’t want to cooperate right now.
Marvin leads him to the large and glowing object and he runs his fingers along it like he had the wall. This one is warm beneath his touch and smooth… very smooth. He likes how it feels. He rubs his fingertips along its surface, letting out what one could call a hum. If a gurgling growl was anything close to a hum, anyway.
“It’s a car,” Marvin informed him and a small memory flashes through his mind: a blue metal creature hunched on a paved ground, walking towards it and stepping inside. He tries to continue the memory but it’s gone before he could grasp it. “You know, to get around to places quickly. Here, get in.” There’s a loud click and part of the large object splits a little from the main area. Marvin gestures towards the now darker area inside the brighter area and he smells at it as he moves towards it. Marvin pushes his head down a little and he sits down inside. Marvin reaches over a moment later to pull a bright red belt across his chest. It clicks and it stays in place across his chest and stomach.
Marvin then closes whatever part was apart from the main and moves to the other side. There’s a low rumbling a moment later and he gasps when everything starts to move at once.
“We’re in the car now. Remember? It’s for transportation,” Marvin reminded and he leans more into the back of the warm chair. “We’re headed to the graveyard. There’ll be… food…. for you there.”
His mouth waters a little at the thought of food and his stomach does a small flip. He smells at the air, fully expecting some more meat to be in the car simply because Marvin said that they’re going to get food. However, it’s just Marvin and nothing else. It’s like that for a while until the car stops and there’s a slam before the area beside him opens and he’s pulled out.
Another new area and this time… this time he can smell food. It may not be as fresh as Marvin but… there’s still food. The scent of food clouds his mind and he instantly tries to go running ahead only for the leash to keep him from going too far ahead. He pulls at it but it’s relentless.
“Good thing I put you on a leash,” Marvin said behind him but he doesn’t care because there’s food nearby and he is starving. He roars and growls and snarls as he tugs and pulls but he’s only going ahead a little at a time. He nears a spot where food is hidden beneath the ground and he instantly begins to dig. But then he’s yanked back and not allowed near again no matter how badly he wants to get near. “No, Robbie! You are not unburying anyone! I really didn’t think this through…”
He continues to try and reach any place near food in the ground but he’s being pulled elsewhere. He growls more loudly, trying to dig his feet into the ground but whatever is pulling him is too strong for his feet and he can feel his ankles bending awkwardly.
“Come…. over… here!” Marvin grunted but he’s still not paying attention until he’s dragged into another building and there’s a non moving piece of meat laid out perfectly for him. He turns as soon as he smells it and latches onto it. He can instantly taste its blood and delicious taste and he groans happily, tearing off a large piece and continuing with this. “Dammit, Rob…”
He doesn’t care if he hears disappointment in Marvin’s voice right now because he’s got something to eat and he’s not stopping. He uses his hands, teeth, anything to tear off large chunks of the flesh. He chews it messily and swallows heavily, but no matter how much he eats he can’t seem to be satisfied.
There’s a small footstep from nearby and he pauses. That’s not Marvin…. there’s a new scent, a new thing like Marvin but not Marvin… he snarls softly and turns from the thing he’s currently eating, smelling past Marvin. There’s a sudden scream and he darts towards the source, ignoring the tug from the leash and tackling the blob that had just appeared, a brighter red color than Marvin because of its fear.
He pins it down despite its struggling and bites down on the first place he can- this being somewhere on the upper area of the blob. It gasps and Marvin is yelling at him to stop but he’s too hungry to stop. He tears upwards with his teeth still clamped and the blob stops moving, stops breathing and it tastes far better than the other already unmoving blob.
“Robbie!” Marvin shouted and he flinches, pauses in his eating because he doesn’t like the tone. “You just- you just killed him!”
“Uuuunnnggrrryyy,” he pointed out and there’s a frustrated noise from the blob behind him.
“You were already eating from the dead one!” Marvin continues to shout and he draws back a little out of slight fear and guilt. “Why did you have to attack him?”
Because he was hungry but Marvin doesn’t seem to like that answer. He lets out a small whimper, smelling at the still blob once more and it’s so enticing.
Marvin sighs heavily and shifts once more. “You know what? Just eat him. But don’t ever attack another living person, got it?”
He thinks he does. But he’s not sure. So what he attacked is a “living person”? So no more attacking anything moving… but he can eat. He does so, tear large chunks out once more. This one is much more tasteful and filling than the other and he enjoys it a lot. He can hear Marvin gag behind him in obvious disgust.
“Was Henrik right about you?” Marvin asked softly but he continues eating, keeping his ears perked to listen still. “Are you nothing but a mindless creature now? Are you even Robbie?”
He only pauses when he hears “Robbie” again. He lifts his head from his food, turning his eyes to face them towards Marvin. He has to turn his entire upper half to do this and smells at the blob, finding a strange blue color on him that signifies sadness. He lets out a small hissing whimper and stands, walking over to it and grabbing its hands.
“Iiii,” he began, word dragging out because of his uncooperative tongue. The sounds he makes to speaks tear through his throats, making his muscles work, “Iiiiiiii….. aaaaammm…. R- Rrrroobbeee, Maaarrriinnn…”
Marvin’s breath catches and he feels it’s fingers wrap around his cold hands in return, squeezing against the bent skin there tightly. The sadness is still coming from Marvin in waves but also a flicker of purple- hope, he believes.
“O- of course, Rob,” Marvin stammered and his voice sounds thick with emotion. “I sh-shouldn’t have doubted you.”
He smiles and then he’s pulled close to Marvin, warmth enveloping his normally cold skin. His blind eyes widen a moment before drooping half closed. This feels…. nice.
He is Robbie, isn’t he?
He believes he is.
