Rage: A Study in Human Emotion

big-brother-nature:

This audio file contains the interview between Gill’i Porr’tas, Head of Research G.C. and Turroti Val Gennti.

“Please state your name and rank for the record.”

“I am Turroti Val Gennti. I am… was, stationed aboard ‘Dying Light’, a class 4 Gonta scout ship. My Captain was Cpt. Giooj Meeta.”

“Thank you. I understand that the interviews that we have been conducting have been taxing on you. This is the last one we will be recording.

Please describe the events post-capture of your crew.”

“The events that followed the capture of my crew and myself went as such: 23 of our full force of 40 was sent into what i can only describe as… as a torture chamber. We were lead through the chamber to a door that housed the cells in which we would be caged in. 2 to each cell with the exception of my cell which housed three. Myself, Turroti Vacyuo Bu, and Lt. Gates. Lt. Gates was one of the few humans aboard along with two scientists, and a medical staff member. As a Turroti, I worked closely with the Lt. He was a strong, silent, and reserved man. Slowly, one by one, we were taken from the cells back to the chamber. Those who went in, didn’t come back out. In such a frightened state, i looked to the being who i thought would be the calmest. I turn my head to observe the Lt. acting in such a way as i had never seen. The screams that echoed down the hallway seemed to cause him to flinch, withdrawing into himself, hugging his… knees(?) That is until he heard the screams of one particular crew member, a Vunn named Guftr, being dragged to the room. As soon as they started screaming, the Lt. was shaking the cell down as hard as he could, screaming their name. But in Guftr’s struggle, our captors struck them to subdue but instead broke their neck. The moment we heard the snap, something happened. It was so quiet. Too quiet. Then I hear it. It was the bending of metal bars. I looked at the Lt. and what i saw was unlike anything else. He had this feeling about him, this aura. And with no emotion on his face, he snapped the door open and walked out of the cell. Turroti Vacyuo’s face was, I assume, mirroring my own as i watched the Lt. pulled a human ‘knife’ from his boot.

I will never forget what happened next. Can you imagine the pain of everything you ever loved being taken from you, Dr?”

“No, i dont think i can.”

“Neither can i, Dr. But i know what it sounds like. It is the sound of an old, monstrous creature. Its the sound of years of pain, bottled up, being released. His primal screams of anger and pain will haunt my sleep for many cycles to come. Turroti Vacyuo was limited in movement due to an injury in the capture. I was the first one to see it.”

“See what?”

“The creature that looked like Lt. Gates. This thing was only human in the vaguest sense. Any humanity that he had, was gone. He was no long my friend, but a beast taking its revenge in the most gruesome way, by tearing out captors apart, limb by limb. I was frozen as i watched him drag, throw, and slam the Nom Hyhn around like little toys for hatchlings. Nom Hyhn, who are feared for their skills in interrogation and cruelty, were screaming to their gods as he peeled flesh from them. Only after he had killed all of them did some sort of human emotion filter through to show that he was himself. He walked over to the body of Guftr and held it close as he sobbed over the lose of life. He looked up and spoke in a broken voice, ‘they didnt deserve this’.”

“What happened after that?”

“… With the keys to the cells salvaged from our captors, i began releasing my crew. The Lt. had to be forcibly removed, which was only accomplished by allowing him to take the body with him. We made it back to the remains of our ship and set up a distress signal. Three days later, we were rescued.”

“Have you seen the Lt. since?”

“No but in the few days it took to get rescued, he became more and more social. I have no doubt that he will make a full recovery.”

“Are you still afraid of him?”

“… No. Im not.”

“Why?”

“Because he’s my friend.”

Edit: to be honest, i didnt expect anybody to actually be interested in this, let alone actually be proud to have it on their tumblrs. I just want to say thank you to all the people who took the time to read this little story that i made up in a sleep-deprived haze. Y’all are cool and stuff. Im not sure yet but i think i might create a follow up about this.
