yodeling-soup:

So, a while ago I made a post about weather or not I should post my humans are weird story. I got some nice replies. Here are the people who commented or reblogged @extreme-danger-bug @potatokingme and @blackrabbitt3t

The quiet creak of the walls filled the cold room, going unnoticed by the occupants. A long metal table stretched out, seemingly endless but in reality taking up only a fraction of the area. The surface of the table was filled with green and blue, displaying a clear image of S-01-3, better known to some as “Earth.” Six Crylaxxaians filled the most centered seats of the table.

Green light from the table reflected off a creature’s unblinking black eyes and dull exoskeleton. Though not wide in girth, the height of the individual was still astonishing, yet no more intimidating than the others. On its vaguely mantis like face, a slit opened and began to emit chittering noises.

“Jxx, I understand that you have results for me?” The leader asked. Its question was directed to the smallest of the group, who cocked its head to the side and clicked an affirmative.

“Yes, Comm. S-01-3 is previously inhabited. Further study shows that the creatures have not yet left their own orbit, proving my theory that no extraterrestrial life has been upon the surface before. These creatures have completely evolved on their own in a short amount of time.” Jxx anxiously tapped one of its many claws against the table while scrolling through data with another. Comm nodded and turned to the creature on his right.

“Le’q, what have your nanobots brought back?” Comm asked. A few taps and Le’q had brought up a diagram of the homosapien.

“I’ve been able to get my nanobots to latch onto about 2,400 of them. My audio and visual nanobots have also been placed around in various locations, mostly in places called ‘classrooms’. Zaan has been able to create a translator for me.” Le’q paused to acknowledge Zann with a tilt of its head, and continued.

“I have a large amount of information stored, but I have sent the most important information to the others to analyze.” Le’q bought up a line of strange symbols. “These creatures call themsleves homosapiens, but are more commonly referred to as ‘humans.’ They can reproduce once per Yaz rotation, but the amount of offspring can vary.” A diagram of the female body was spread across the table.

“Most humans decide to only have two offspring throughout their life spans, but they can carry as many as three at a time without the risk of danger. One of their downfalls is that it takes two humans to create offspring, which is the reason for there being such things as ‘genders.’” Comm clicked in interest.

“Do you have any information on their survival?” Comm asked. Across the table, the tapping of claws on a screen stopped.

“Scientifically speaking” a rough voiced clicked. “These ‘humans’ breathe death.” Le’q sighed at the Crylaxxaian across the table and rubbed the base of its antennae in frustration.

“Ur’a, they don’t breathe death, they breathe O2.”

“Might as well be death. It’s killing them! The average lifespan of a human is 79 Yaz rotations! 79!”

“They’ve adapted. Haven’t you read the files?” Le’q snapped.  “Please, we have much to discuss. Stay on topic.”

“Though it is much appreciated.” Comm interrupted. “I would like to hear more of what Ur’a has to say. I find the evolution of the human race… fascinating.” Ur’a stretched its neck in self indulgent way, satisfied with the interest their leader was taking.

“If you don’t mind, I believe that evolution is my specialty.” A timid voice chirped. All movement stopped. Optics turned and focused on the quietest of the group. Comm warmly inclined its head

“Of course, Z’rs,“ Comm leaned back and gestured with a claw. “Please, share what you have learned.” Suddenly nervous, Z’rs bowed its head and averted its gaze.

“Humans started as single cell organisms, and evolved over a period of 3.8 billion Yaz rotations, which is a remarkably short amount of time.” Comm agreed with the younger Crylaxxaian. After all, it has taken them almost 21.8 billion Yaz rotations to evolve to their current state.

“They evolved into H2O dwelling creatures, and soon developed the ability to breathe O2-”

“You mean death?” Ur’a snarked and Z’rs shrunk back. Jxx harshly nudged Ur’a with a claw, disappointed with the younger Crylaxxaian’s behavior. Cautiously, Z’rs continued with its speech.

“And then evolved into ‘Monkeys.’ At one point or another, there were groups that split. Some of them evolved into the current human.” Z’rs finished, a wave of relief overcoming the young Crylaxxaian.

“I’d like to point out that not only do they kill other creatures for their own benefit, but they put foreign objects into their bodies. They then absorb nutrients and release anything unneeded.” Ur’a declared. Ur’a felt good knowing that it had shocked the others into silence.

“I- I wouldn’t put it that way.” Jxx chirped, stuttering in the process. Jxx really only wanted to defuse the situation. Jxx had a positive outlook on humans, and if Jxx was going to be completely honest, they weren’t too much of a threat unless threatened. Sort of like the animal native to the Crylaxxaian planet, the Zerrgbez.

“Well, how would you put it?” Ur’a snarked back and Jxx was at a loss for words. On one claw, Jxx wanted to argue with the egotistical Crylaxxaian, but the professional side said to get back on track and plan accordingly for the situation.

“Perhaps what Jxx is trying to say is that there’s no need to be so harsh?” Le’q suggested. “Perhaps we can continue with our original conversation? There’s no rush, believe me, but I think it would be best to send a reply soon.” Comm nodded and agreed.

And so the planning started.

The end
