ok so there’s a game me and my friends play called “don’t get me started” and basically someone gives another person a random topic and they have to go on an angry rant about it and it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to us at parties and car rides so I highly recommend playing sometimes with your friends
I love this idea. We used to do things like this in Improv.
Related game: “THINK ABOUT IT.” You’re given a random topic, and your job is to build it into an epic conspiracy theory, the crazier the better. You end your rant with a serious face and the command that your listeners “Think about it.”
Another related game: Illuninati. Similar to Think About It except you are given 2 completely different topics and you have to connect them to each other in a wild conspiracy rant
Rb to safe an awkward hang out
These are honestly how I’ve always communicated with my friends
Fuck man I’ve literally never even thought about this (which sounds so stupid when I type it out but that ‘s the insidiousness of abelism isn’t it? If we aren’t he ones affected we don’t think about it) but that’s ridiculous. Getting a brail menu made up can’t be that difficult. (And if it is, it shouldn’t be.) The big chain restaurants, certainly, have no excuse for not doing this. They can afford to put in that effort, can afford those extra printing costs without question. And they should be doing it, without question. But they won’t unless we say something.
So how about the next time you go into a restaurant, you ask them if they have a brail menu. Tell them you’re “checking for a friend” or whatever, I don’t care. Just ask them. Start making posts and tweets. Heck, tweet at the restaurants if they’ve got twitter accounts. If enough people ask, if enough pressure gets placed, they’ll see there’s a demand. They’ll see there’s a need, an obligation to provide a basic fucking menu that everyone can access. And maybe they’ll take steps to meet it. We can hope right?
Because the fact that this isn’t already standard practice is fucking appalling.
Someone at my job asked for a brail menu from me months ago and the manager told me it was a great idea and she was gonna get some but it never happened guess I should bring it up again
Meanwhile, “utter” works for the first (e.g., “you utter floorboard”) but somehow “utterly” doesn’t seem to work as well for the second (“I was utterly floorboarded”).
Utterly doesn’t work for drunk because it’s the affix for turning random objects into terms for *shocked*, obviously.
… huh. I thought that might just be the similarity to “floored”, and yet “I was utterly coat hangered” does seem to convey something similar.
I have to tell you, I am utterly sandwiched at this discovery.
Completely makes the phrase mean “super tired”.
“God, it’s been a long week, I am completely coat-hangered.”
This is enough. Ajit Pai has already succeded MULTIPLE TIMES and you can expect the full removal of net neutrality on APRIL 23RD OF THIS YEAR. We can still contact our senators, we can still fight as hrd as we can, but even though 23 states are suposedly suing for the repeal of this, we need to help it along.
In case people forgot what Net Neutrality is: it is a series of laws that ensure everyone free and fair access to the internet. Without them, you will be charged for the sites you use on top of an already high internet bill. This means creators like us cannot post and be seen. Thia means that smaller schools will havebto switch to out of date text books. This means that starter IT projects that could make our lives better will die because noone can support an online presence that noone can afford to see.
And the list goes on and on and on. I have frienda who have to make their livings through commissions and working online because of multiple health issues. I have friends trying to publish books, post art, post voice acting snippets that will not be seen without these laws.
Please support Net Neutrality and contact your senators!!! This is so important to everyone you know, AND WE JUST NEED ONE SENATOR TO TURN THE TIDE!!!
So I went for a quick walk to the corner store near me to pick up a couple of things.
The person who owns the store is an older Muslim man. He’s always been nothing but friendly, to the point of letting me take the stuff I had planned to buy with the promise of paying him back once when my card didn’t work.
Today I walked in and got my stuff, stepped up to the counter, and started to say hi. Then he turned around, motioned for me to wait a moment, and continued with what he was doing. It was only then I realized he was in the middle of his prayers.
So I waited at the counter for a few minutes. Then he picked up his mat and put it away, came over, and gave me a free corny dog to thank me for my patience (and because we’re pals).
This is My America, or at least the way I want it to be.
Diversity. Acceptance. Friendship. And bonding over unhealthy fried food.
this is so amazing thank you
This is what America should be. Thank you for sharing this, it’s a nice reminder that there is still good in this world.
