I KNOW!!! This dude is the real villain. Imagine letting us, Damien, the Detective, Colonel, or ANYONE just walk right into that house knowing full well that it meant their demise. If I knew what he knew, I’d be standing in the drive, waving my arms like a lunatic telling people to turn around and go back. Instead, he’s just doing his thing, digging freaking holes in the ground.
He only tells them AFTER they’ve been in the house that they’re all doomed/cursed/whatever. Which is, in fact, not very helpful at that point!
Or better yet, why didn’t he just burn the place down? He’s super shady. #blameGeorge
Speaking from my point of view, mom friends are a little weird and being? Even more so.
Now you have a group of humans. In that group, you have the mom friend. Now the mom friend takes care of the others in small ways and typically worries about them, yes? Well for the sake of this post, every friend group has a mom friend. Now aliens would know about mothers and might understand the concept of adopted parents but a human who mothers another human of the same age group would be something new.
Humans who grew up with a mom friend might joke and say “ok mom” or turn around and make that comment to an alien telling them what to do if they have a casual enough relationship.
And a human that had a group of friends that they mothered would feel the need to mom something or someone. What would that particular human do if they have no humans or animals to mom? Would they begin looking for an alien to mom?
Now I’m a mom friend, and I know that I will mom anything I think needs to be taken care of. I realize this and work around it.
So in the context of an alien ship that has humans, in the unlikely event that they get four humans of different professions and they all happen to be the mom friend to some degree.
You might have a scientist human who constantly tries to take care of the others.
An engineer that takes care of small things the other humans need without being asked because that’s how they momed their friends.
A cook human who makes desserts for the other humans when they feel down and purchase the ingredients with their own money and keep them separate from the other rations.
And lastly a tough guard human that is the shoulder to cry on and ultimate worry wart.
Now they can be any gender but guys that mom their friends are less common and probably more timid.
The mom instinct could have came from tribal living where everyone took care of the children and the fact that human children are weak in the sense that they are small and can’t fend for themselves.
But aliens encountering the mom friend would have a new chapuadded to the human guide book and pring up the possibility of classification in friend groups and the question, do dad friends exist?
