we know that Chara’s soul was powering the Core in Undertale, right?
yeah there they are
well. at the end of a Genocide route, Chara wants Frisk’s soul because they can’t access their own – it’s still stuck there in the Core. but at the end of a PACIFIST ROUTE, Chara stays inside the Core instead of possessing Frisk, where we see their soul in person.
and when the monsters leave the Underground… the Core is shut down.
What happened to the last person who was in the Core when things went screwy?
I think Chara was slorped into the closing of the Core and shotputted into an alternate reality, similarly to Gaster… and that alternate reality is where we are NOW, in DELTARUNE.
When we reach the end of the Dark World, remember that column of light? Susie says she thinks we’ve stumbled onto something really important… and Kris’s soul feels like it’s glowing. I think Chara’s soul injected itself into Kris then and there.
this explains why “Kris” tears out their soul and shoves it in a birdcage. CHARA DOESN’T NEED IT. CHARA BROUGHT THEIR OWN.
Chara is now piloting Kris around like a friggin Gundam.
but now? now we have Kris’s soul without a body, trapped in a cage. And we know Kris is still in control of it, because Kris can move it around even after being stuck in that cage.
Kris’s soul needs a new body if it’s gonna stop Kris’s body from being used by Chara for who knows what nefarious deeds.
Didn’t we… MAKE a body earlier? One that was apparently discarded, since our choices don’t matter?
Who else has told us that we don’t have a choice in the matter… but Chara, at the end of a Genocide run?
EDIT: ALSO this characterizes the voice at the beginning, during the “survey.” The track that plays throughout that is a remix of Gaster’s theme, and it’s titled “ANOTHER HIM.”
I’m like 80% sure this is Gaster, and that Gaster will be helping Kris from behind the scenes throughout this story…
ALSO ALSO. As pointed out by @ectoimp, RALSEI IS SUSPICIOUS AS HECK. Weren’t you supposed to CLOSE that fountain? He just led you there with a convenient-sounding story… and what happened once you reached it….?
PSA for everyone going to the rest of the shows…for the love of all that is holy DO NOT CROWD THE STAGE DOOR DO NOT CROWD HIS BUS DO NOT SCREAM HIS NAME DO NOT WRITE ON HIS BUS DO NOT SHOUT AT SECURITY LEAVE HIS TEAM ALONE DO NOT RUN AT HIM OR GRAB HIM. DO NOT DO WHAT SOME OF YOU ARE SAYING AND “GRAB HIS ANKLES” Meeting Sean at his shows is NOT guaranteed and any time he is able to do so it’s out of the goodness of his heart!!! Sean and his team deserve RESPECT for everything they do and to not be treated like monkeys!!! He loves us but he does not want to be crowded he is human!!! Worst of all you risk hurting him if you rush at him and you wouldn’t want that for your idol would you? What if you pushed him over and he broke a bone? He is human and he deserves personal space and time to relax after the show and spend time with his team!!! Every other time I’ve met him has been when we sat QUIETLY by the bus and a good distance away and actually treated him and the team like he deserves to be treated! It breaks his heart when he can’t see us but he will not do it if there is a security risk which MOBBING HIM AND HIS TEAM CREATES!!!!!! ^THIS Jesus fucking christ!
What the hell is wrong with people? This is the exact reason he only went to Vidcon once. At least I think it was Vidcon.
I absolutely love Houseki no Kuni, and I haven’t watched TDP so maybe it’s hot garbage and I just don’t know it, but still, I’m getting reeeal tired of people comparing HNK to The Dragon Prince and/or RWBY as a “Houseki no Kuni is how you SHOULD do 3D animation” thing.
Just… no, no no no.
This is an apples to oranges comparison. Why? Because yes, HNK does use 3D models. However, the animation style is something called 2.5D, the use of 3D models to imitate 2D animation. The Guilty Gear Xrd games, for example, use this animation practice;
And this is what Houseki no Kuni uses as well:
Now, if you want an example of BAD 2.5D animation, it certainly exists. Here’s examples from Berserk 2016:
Now THIS, this here you can put side-by-side with Houseki no Kuni, and say HNK’s animation should be the standard. However, you can’t do that with RWBY and TDP and it be a fair comparison. Why?
Because RWBY and TDP are 3D animation. Simple as that. They may be cell-shaded, but they aren’t trying to imitate 2D animation.
A key difference between 3D animation and 2.5D animation is that the latter is hand-animated frame-by-frame, just like a drawing would be, again with the intent of imitating 2D animation, whereas the former still relies on model physics and a sort of “pose-by-pose” kind of animation. As you can see in the above .gif, the skirts, coats, cloaks, and hair are all moving with the wind due to model physics, rather than the hair, skirts, cloaks, and coats being animated frame-by-frame to look like they’re moving in the wind.
And same can be said of TDP, wherein you can see how the beard and wings move like that due to model physics, rather than being animated frame-by-frame to move.
Stop holding 2.5D animation up as the standard for 3D animation when, while both use 3D models yes, they’re still two entirely different styles of animation.
Furthermore, stop glorifying Japanese animation over Western animation in such a way when Japanese animators are treated like actual literal fucking SLAVES to produce animation of that quality.
non-autistic authors write autistic characters all the time. they just don’t realize it. they’d rather not admit it most of the time, either.
the thing is, non-autistic people have met autistic people more than enough times. however, due to their stereotypes about autism, they often can’t identify it as autism. they see something is up, but they can’t put their finger on just what is up.
so they see people like us and they know the ‘archetype’ which is autistic people. they write us all the time: airheaded professors, awkward nerds, pent up geniuses, etc.
when autistic people point out how strikingly obvious it is that this character is autistic, they usually deny it, or at best, they say the character is ‘if anything, extremely high functioning’, which is more of a kick in the gut than a confirmation. we hardly get those, either.
so, here’s the thing: there are some characters that are very obviously autistic to actual autistic people. pearl from steven universe and papyrus from undertale are two of the most agreed upon examples that i’ve seen. nearly ever autistic fan of steven universe i met says, “yeah, she’s autistic”, and the same goes for papyrus.
when we, as a community, bring this up, however, we are shot down. “oh, he’s not autistic.” i once was told that – ironic as it was – my headcanoning papyrus as autistic offended autistic people or hurt autistic people. but i’m autistic and they weren’t.
two autistic people were both agreeing – damn, this character is blatantly autistic – but non-autistic people felt the need to but in and say how horrible it was to “project” onto characters with such a horrible thing.
listen, if you aren’t autistic and you’re reading this –
if an autistic person says a character is autistic, can you just shut up about it?
because if you’ve watched any amount of tv, read any amount of books, whatever – if you’ve consumed stories, there are tons of autistic characters in them.
just because neither you nor the media’s creators knows shit about autism doesn’t mean that the character can’t be autistic.
either way, it’s none of your business.
we have little to none confirmed representation that isn’t terrible and inconsiderately offensively written.
find something better to do with your time.
NT Author: *Writes lovingly nuanced character who is quirky, shy, physically sensitive, socially awkward, clumsy, brilliant at a few special topics and has the capacity to grow and learn friendship and love in a nontraditional way*
NT Author: They can’t possibly be autistic!
NT Author: I’m gonna write an autistic character!
NT Author: “Doesn’t talk, rocks back and forth, loves trains”
Gonna say this as an author:
It is 100% okay to use the phrase “well, they are now.”
If a ton of people approach you with a character you didn’t realize you coded autistic, and they’re like “fuck yeah, autistic character!”
You can 100% say “I didn’t even realize that’s what I was doing, but you know what? Sure. With the number of people who see it, I’m not gonna say no. They’re autistic now.”
Nobody worth having around is going to be offended by that.
This is one of the reasons why I like Soft Antis. The angst opptunities, coming up with interesting ways for him to be utterly broken on the inside to explain why he does bad things.
