The other day this little black boy came through my lane. He was maybe six years old and buying a Miles Morales action figure. Since the kid had the same haircut that Miles has in the movie, I decided to be funny.

“So..” I asked, “Are you really Spider-Man?”

He looked at me like ‘who does this crazy white girl think she is’ and said “no. Spider-Man is white.”

“Miles Morales isn’t white. He looks like you.” I told him.

This kid didn’t believe me, so I pulled up pictures. The look on his face was something unforgettable. So I said, “Now are you /really/ gonna stand there and tell me you aren’t Spider-Man?”

(As they left his mom was talking about going and seeing Into the Spiderverse)
