Hey guys I just finished datamining the tumblr app and found out some info on future updates @staff has in the works

ok so the first thing I found was that they’re adding a new dislike button:

based on what I saw, tumblr’s dislike button works a little differently than typical dislike buttons. in addition to showing the number of dislikes on a post, if a user ever gets any more than 3 dislikes in total they will have their blog deleted immediately. this may seem harsh at first glance but I trust that the tumblr community wouldn’t abuse this power so this is a good change.

I swear if this is true I will have a panic attack I do not want my blog deleted

If it was true probably all the blogs with more than like 1000 followers would just vanish in minutes.

I noticed a lot of you guys were upset with this change to the app and I understand completely.

another thing I found out about this update is actually kind of cool though, soon we’re going to be able to change other people’s profile pictures. I’m not really sure why we’re being given this ability but I’m never one to complain about a new feature!

so you know how when you click on your avatar you see this:

…well now if you click on someone else’s avatar you can actually do this:

I’d like to personally ask my followers not to change MY profile pic, but this feature is pretty cool if you ask me because we can do stuff like this now lol:

anyway so the next thing I discovered is a pretty big change, they’re getting rid of gif posts. I’m honestly a bit disappointed about this one because I thought gif posts were cool but I guess it’s fine.

the weird thing though is that they’re not just getting rid of gif posts, they’re replacing them with a new type of post:

they’re changing gif to piss.

the first question I had was why? why change gif to piss???? you can never really predict what @staff will do next huh.

I’m not sure what the new piss post button does but I guess we’ll all find out when they release the update, probably without any warning. nothing we can do about that, with us just being the users of this site and all. we’ll just have to learn to accept it like always!

y’all are still upset about the dislike button? I understand and all but they’re changing gif to piss I think that’s a pretty big deal.

but, I get it. it’s frustrating when this app is updated with random features we can’t turn off, and it makes one feel like they don’t really matter to whoever programs this site.

but,

there’s one last thing I found out about the upcoming update. it’s a small change, but I think we can all agree it will make this website much better. I saved this for last because I wanted to end the post on a happy note.
