SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT

So if a teenager is at school for roughly 8 hours, and they are doing homework for 6+ hours, and they need AT LEAST 9 HOURS OF SLEEP FOR THEIR DEVELOPING BRAINS, then they may have 0-1 hours for other activities like eating, bathing, exercise, socializing (which is actually incredibly important for emotional, mental, and physical health, as well as the development of skills vital to their future career and having healthy romantic relationships among other things), religious activities, hobbies, extra curriculars, medical care of any kind, chores (also a skill/habit development thing and required by many parents), relaxation, and family time?  Not to mention that your parents may or may not pressure you to get a job, or you might need to get one for economic reasons.

I will never not reblog this

“…but teenagers have no reason to be stressed.”

god bless this post

finally!

THANK YOU

When I was in high school, i had 9-10 hours at school, been home at 17, studying to 22/23 almost every day. Now I’m in university and comepletely burnt out because high school gave me a hard fucking time

Another reason most kids can’t handle certain interactions with others now.

I always thought it was so stupid how much time schools wanted students to focus on homework after school. Like “guys, I have a life outside of this building. My car needs repaired, I have medical appointments, family that I want to spend time with, not to mention a job to go to. So how about no?”

I had to go to the hospital for chest pains I was stressing so much at one point in college. Doctors couldn’t find anything wrong, physically, so you know what I was told? Anxiety.

Now, I still get those pains from time to time, even if I’m perfectly calm. But school has fucked me up physically and mentally. I now over focus on tasks to the point of forgetting to eat. Marching band in high school messed up my ankles, effectively causing me to have tendinitus. I have what seems to be a permanent condition where I sporadically have chest pain. I over worry about getting things done and think that, if I don’t, then I’m a failure.
