Imagine in Chase’s house, on one of the walls there’s paint smears and small children’s handprints from when one day Chase decided to let the kids play with paints. In order to stop them getting into trouble when their mom gets home, he put his own painted hand print on the wall, right next to them, saying because he also ruined the wall, he’d take the blame for the mess. The marks were kept there for memories of good times. And when he goes to visit, he always checks they’re still there…

this genuinely, truly, made me cry

And one night he has another one of his Dark Silence nightmares; he walks down the dark corridors, heading towards what sounds like his kids screaming. He stops as soon as he sees something on the wall; handprints. The same as his kid’s handprints on the wall at home, only these ones look desperate, grasping, dragged along the wall as if they were trying to claw on while something was trying to pull them further into the darkness..

(… I’ll go and punish myself now, I think I’ve made enough angst for this week. XD)

Or just imagine one sunny day when Chase decided to revisit, but he then realise the door is already opened, he was confused, the house is all dark and silent, he walks inside and found the wall where the handprints are, there’s another extra handprint…in red blood

That…. escalated very quickly 😂

Or just the simple route of he comes over to visit one day and finds them painted over because Stacy didn’t want the reminder anymore.

Stacy painted over them, but there’s still a handprint there. Like a ghost it never really goes away, showing up through however many coats of paint get dumped onto it. Its only one handprint this time though.
Chase’s. Slapped on in red.
