Is it bad that I don’t like the theory that Chase killed his family?

not at all. in fact, i’m not a fan of it either. i know it’s fiction, but like i don’t think that’s the message jack wants to send to his audience.

the thing about the doll’s hand is that i believe it’s just a doll’s hand.  dolls are scary! there are billions of horror movies centered around them. the doll’s hand might represent chase’s family, that his little girl loves playing with dolls and now there’s a piece of it that he found and he’s terrified of losing them.

i mean, if anything jack was probably just mirroring the game he just played, about finding appendages in places they shouldn’t be. y’know, trying out spooky stuff irl !

that also plays along to the theory that i’ve been seeing crop up that because of chase’s mental instability that led him into murdering his family.  and i feel like that goes against everything that jack represents.  jack is very serious about keeping a positive mental attitude, so i feel like it wouldn’t be right to show a mentally ill character do such a heinous act when he’s promoting the importance of having a healthy mind.

if anything, how jack would probably do it, is that chase ends up getting help. that when chase is dealing with depressive episodes, that he seeks dr schneeplestein for help, and that he’s on meds to help him through, showing that he can get better even if there are things weighing him down.

i mean, chase having a mental illness is not even canon, it’s just something that the community adapted because of the fact that chase was depressed in his video.  and it’s okay to be sad sometimes, especially about something as drastic as a divorce.

i know it’s all just fiction, but i feel like there are better and scarier ways of going about to do spooky stuff than the ‘mentally ill family killer’ trope.

plus, it’s chase. chase is a character that was created parodying dude perfect. he’s a very energetic and lovable person. i don’t think jack’s gonna be cheap and be like ‘oh he was evil all along!’. i mean, look at today’s video, chase saying “jack, this is chase, you need to wake up.” shows that he does have concern for jack. i truly and firmly believe that chase is a good person.
