Headcanon that Chase gets to see his kids on his birthday and he’s extremely happy and then a couple months later he wins custody and he lives happily with his kids.

incorrect-ego-quotes:

headcanon it all happens on his birthday the next year, chase crying as he’s reunited with his son and daughter outside the courthouse. his youngest hugging him tighter than ever before and whispering how much she missed him.

“i’m right here,” he cries, not looking stacy’s way as she glares at him. her new husband trying to tug her along.

“let them have this, okay, stacy? let him…he’s been through so much.” he says as he helps her in the car. not noticing her own tears falling as she sees her only children – the lights of her life, pick /him/ over /her/.

chase can hardly keep his sobs in as he pulls back and sees them. his son, only 11 years old, dressed in a button up and slacks. his daughter, 5 years old, dressed in a yellow dress with black boots.

“daddy?” she asks, her voice small and meek, “i got you a present…”

“what is it, sweetheart?”

she searches her pocket to pull out a simple green bracelet. one chase had given her one night when she was too scared to sleep without a nightlight. quivering behind her blankets until chase explained the small beads and their purpose. a little white lie she believed with all her heart.

“‘member you said if i wish on the pretty beads, it’ll come true?”

he smiles and nods. his son crouching down to hold his sister close.

“and i wished no monsters get me – and!! i woke up and there was no monster!!”

“i sure do, sweetheart.” chase smiles. her bright blue eyes and freckled face staring back at him. just as beautiful as the day she was born.

“i wished for us to go home with you today – and it worked, right?”

his tears fall down his face as his arms reach out for the both of them again. his son crying with him, their embrace tight and strong. the loud busy city quiet around them, the onlookers, the cars, the wind – nothing bothered the family in their own little world.

“it sure did, sweetheart, it sure did.”
