On November 24 (what we call Black Friday in the US, it’s the big post-Thanksgiving shopping holiday), my friend is putting on this international event called Joy Friday. The idea is to go out and do a “Joy Ride,” an intentional act of kindness for someone. We’re spreading joy and letting people know that they matter!
For example, last year I took a giant candy bar and a snowman ornament to a retail worker who, once I started talking to her, told me she had been working for almost 12 hours and had missed Thanksgiving dinner with her family. It was AWESOME to see how stoked she was about having a sugar boost as she finished the last couple hours of her shift.
People have sought out custodial employees, hospital workers, waiters/waitresses, police officers, families filling up at gas stations, and so many more. All you have to do is let them know they matter!
