Bad news

I have some bad news for you. Snapchat is not safe. Recently, they have given users the ability to create their own filters, and some of those users too advantage of that. They implanted viruses into the code of the filter, activated when the user opens the filter. These viruses can get into your phone and steal everything on it, giving it to the user. The user then takes that information and blackmails the user for various things. These things range from extortion to full on rape. Just deciding to not use the filters does not work. If someone uses a filter you don’t have, Snapchat automatically downloads the filter to show the picture to you. Just opening that picture will download the virus onto your phone, compromising your system.

I personally know two people who have been targeted by these types of people, and the toll it takes is massive. So, for the love of God, GET RID OF SNAPCHAT. GET IT OFF YOUR PHONE. Once that is done, tell all your friends about this. Get this message everywhere. This is important. I do not want to hear about anybody else being targeted by these people.

Tl;dr: read the damn thing.

If this doesn’t scare you, consider this: they also have the numbers of every person in your contact list. Every person who you know is also compromised.
