martinplier:

I’m just going to compliment Mark’s acting skills again. I did it breifly last time, so I want to get everything out now.

Mark is a phenomenal actor. He’s amazing at it in general, but he’s just so able and good at breathing life into the character’s he plays. For an actor to be good at acting, they need the ability to show that the character they are playing is human as well(unless that character is not). They need to be able to show every emotion felt by the character expressively, through facial and bodily expressions as well as voicing and other mannerisms.

Mark does a stupendous job of doing this.

I’ll explain with some examples:

The Colonel(or, Wilford Warfstache):

Mark did an excellent job of showing the colonel’s slow discent into madness- he started off as just a flamboyant and over expressive man looking forward to a party. He was excited to meet the main character and appeared to have a good time during the drunk vision.

But then Mark dies. The first step downwards

Now, it appears that the Colonel already does have a few screws loose before this whole event, but he seems to only be pushed over the edge after everything that happens.

Mark is able to show this with not only the character’s facial expressions(which btw, most of his face is covered, good job man) but with his voice pitches and tones as well as how he moved and such. His movements were stiff yet also kind of sporadic in a way- perfect to the character.

As the chapters continue, we soon see the Colonel “loosing his marbles”, yelling at everyone and becoming very jumpy until finally he’s lost it at the end. He’s willing to do anything to find his two friends at the end because they were the last common ground he had. And with how Mark portrayed him, running and yelling frantically, limping away from the character, having a shaky if insane tone when speaking. Amazing job.

The Mayor(or Damien):

Damien is quite the opposite of the Colonel, being charismatic and mannerful. He’s instantly shown to be a patient and soft spoken man ready for a good night with his group of friends. He is also shown as loyal and true to the peopl he cares for most. Not only does the way he’s dressed help show this, but Mark’s acting helps tenfold.

First off, the way he speaks and carries his body and voice is perfect for a man such as Damien. They are much more stiff yet graceful, showing that yes they are polite, mannerful. He keeps his voice lower, more controlled and much much softer, giving him an aura of trust. I mean, look at how quickly the fandom fell for him despite their suspicions that he was Darkiplier. He had a feeling that you could trust him and as it turns out, yes, you could.

He was trying to keep everyone calm, collected and constantly trying to look out for everyone gathered. You can see it in his facial expressions- he’s majorly concerned and afraid, has no idea what is going on yet wanting to help.

Just watch every time Mark acts as him, you can literally see the small movements in his face as he develops new emotions. That is so beautiful.

And last:

Darkiplier(or: the main character, Selene, and Damien):

While Dark was not in it for too long, you could see Mark’s amazing skills in the few seconds he was there.

The way he looked down at the cane, slowly looked to the mirror, the way you literally see his expression changing from one of grief and sorrow to burning rage and a lust for vengeance is absolutely stunning and gorgeous.

Even the way he pops his neck, turns and walks away and moves at all in such a fluent and held together way is perfect for the character.

All in all, I’ll finish gushing over his acting. But Mark is an extremely talented actor and I can’t wait to see more from him 🙂
