(Aaaahhhhhh school’s back with homework and full days of no activity but I wrote this when teachers weren’t looking and as soon as I finished my homework for today. Sorry if it’s short- I haven’t as much time now ;-;):
It’s not until the next day that Henrik arrives.
Robbie knows it’s the next day because Marvin tells him when he reawakens. Thank goodness that he is in the same room, Robbie honestly doesn’t like freaking out the way he had the day prior. It strains his brain and scares the people around him to no extent.
There’s a knock on the door while Robbie and the three kids are sitting on the couch, “watching TV”. Well, the kids are. Robbie is just listening and watching the changes in color and heat on the screen. It’s actually very hypnotic to the zombie. He doesn’t even flinch at the loud knocking he’s so entranced.
Chase hurries to answer the door and the smell of Henrik is what breaks Robbie of his trance. At first he doesn’t recognize who it is and growls softly until it processes in his mind and he remembers who it is and relaxes. The kids leap from the couch and run off to greet Henrik, yelling something like: “Uncle Henry!” Robbie tries to follow but because one of his feet still isn’t reattached, he merely falls face forward on the ground. He simply lays there as everyone reenters the room.
Chase bursts out laughing when he sees the zombie, but Marvin runs forward and helps him get back up onto the couch. Henrik steps into the room and Robbie hasn’t seen him in a while and he lifts a hand… waving..? Yeah, waving. He can make out Henrik smile and nod before waving in return.
“Hello again, Robbie,” Henrik greeted and sits down on the couch beside Robbie. He grabs the leg with the missing foot and pulls it onto the between them, squinting at it. Robbie places his hands behind him when he nearly falls backwards because of this sudden action. “Where is his foot? How do you expect me to sew it back on if I don’t even have it?”
Cindy runs from the room just as Chase is trying to grab her and comes back a moment later with the foot, handing it to Henrik. “Here it is, Uncle Henry!” she announced as he takes it.
Henrik smirks. “I like her,” he said before pulling out a small box from his lab coat pocket. “Now this will only take me a moment- if he stays still.”
Robbie doesn’t know that Henrik is talking about him until about five seconds pass and he processes everything he says fully. “I… ssstay.. ssstil…” he informed and stays as still as he can.
The doctor then gets to work stitching his foot back on, holding it in place and dragging the needle and thread through. Robbie watches, curious on how he feels it going through if he watches yet feels nothing if he looks away.
It only takes a few minutes for the doctor to stitched the foot back on. He pats Robbie’s leg and puts the box back into his pocket. “There… now the rest of you… I’d say for normal patients that wounds would heal on their own but… I do not know if that is the case for you as well,” he explained.
“I guess we’ll just have to wait and see,” Marvin pointed out with a small shrug. “Thank you for coming, Henrik, especially on such short notice.”
“Well, of course,” Henrik said in return, standing back up. “I’ll use any excuse to see my favorite patient… and niece.” Cindy giggles and Steve lets out a breath of frustration. CJ crosses his arms over his chest with a huff. “Now, an I going to be payed in lunch or do I have to return home on an empty stomach?”
“Oh, yea, dudes, come on, I made us some lunch!” Chase exclaimed and grabs both Marvin and Henrik by their hands before he drags them to the kitchen. This leaves Robbie with the kids once more and they all go back to watching the TV.
Nothing of interest really happens again until later in the day. Robbie had drifted off into a nap, only being awoken by a loud bang. He jolts awake, eyes snapping open and nostrils flaring as he tries to find the source of the noise.
The kids aren’t with, Chase isn’t with him, Henrik isn’t with him.
And Marvin isn’t with him.
He instantly grows confused and pushes to his feet, concerned over the loud bang and the sudden emptiness of the house. It unsettles him deep in his chest and stomach and he really doesn’t like this feeling in the slightest.
He nearly falls over when his ankle slips a bit out of place before repositioning and he can just catch himself. He grunts and walks from the room, smelling around each new area he enters. He’s been in three different areas and he hasn’t run into anyone. Which is kind of concerning.
“Maaarrrinn?” He called out experimentally. No answer. “Chaaasssssse?” Still no answer. He begins to grow more and more confused and panicked. Was he left alone? “Heeeennnnniiiiiikkkk?!” No…. Marvin wouldn’t leave him alone, right? Marvin… cared about him… didn’t he?
Or… had Marvin given up on him? Because… he couldn’t… he couldn’t be human anymore.
But, he can be. He knows he can.
A low growling behind him makes him turn, smelling for the source of the noise. His body stiffens and he feels panic boil in his veins at the familiar scent and shape.
“Nooo…” he hissed and takes a staggering step backwards and an feel his fear enveloping his mind just as laughter fills his ears.
“Well, what a surprise,” his voice fills Robbie’s ears- it’s so loud- so scratchy and all encompassing. He takes a step forward and Robbie can see the large and toothy grin on his face. “They found a way to bring you back…” there’s a moment’s pause before he continues, voice dropping deeply: “I’ll have to fix that, won’t I?”
And then Robbie is being tackled to the floor, the back of his head hitting the floor too hard and the world is already fading around him.
He remembers.
